NUJ Lagos State Council Elects New Leaders

The Lagos State Council, Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, elections which took place yesterday at the Lagos Television, LTV, Blue Roof Hall has produced new leadership for the organisation.

The peaceful election produced new sets of leaders as the immediate past chairman Quasim Akinreti of Voice of Nigeria bowed to Adeleye Ajayi of News Agency of Nigeria, after scoring 370 votes to become the new state chairman while Akinreti could only gather 68 votes.

For the position of the council’s secretary, Tunde Olalere of Lagos State Ministry of Information beat Tedun Jaiye-Raymond of New Nigeria Newspaper with 381 to 53 votes while Innocent Anaba of Vanguard Newspaper defeated Iyabo Wale Eri of Nigeria Television Authority with 377 votes to 56 votes.

The winners have been certified and sworn in into office in the presence of hundreds of their colleagues and have resumed duties with immediate effect.
