TUC Expresses Displeasure Over Fuel Hike.

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria,TUC is expressing its displeasure over Federal Government’s increase of petrol price, saying the action was in violation of all agreements at their last meeting.

In a statement signed by the TUC’s President, Quadri Olaleye and its Secretary General, Musa-Lawal Ozigi in Lagos, the Union says it had appealed to government in the last meeting that subsidy removal was the only way out, else the economy will collapse with massive job losses.

According to the TUC, if the government claims to have deregulated the downstream sector of the oil and gas by removing fuel subsidy, it means the independent oil marketers are importing petrol at their own cost.

It made it clear that various committees involving government and the organised labour, in the coming days will brief labour and the civil society and the outcome of that meeting will determine next line of action.
