UK Prime Minister to Oust top civil servant in Whitehall revolution

UK’s most senior civil servant, Sir Mark Sedwill, is to step down from his position as Cabinet secretary as part of Boris Johnson’s plans of power reconfiguration.

Reports say Sedwill will make his decision early this week.

He was appointed national security adviser by then-Prime Minister Theresa May in 2017 and then was made Cabinet secretary a year later.

Sedwill’s removal will confirm Johnson’s long-planned shake-up of the Civil Service.
