Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has ordered the closure of markets and stores in the state with effect from Thursday.
According to him, only markets with essential commodities such as medical equipment, water, foodstuff would be exempted.
The Governor in a news conference Tuesday, said it was not a total lockdown, as people on essential services would go about their normal activities.
Sanwo-Olu said government was trying to de-centralise markets in Lagos.
The Governor explained that some of the closed schools would be used as markets, so people could buy food and medicine without going a long distance.
