Governor Sanwo-Olu launches Lagferry to aid transportation.

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, says the capacity of the Lagos Ferry Services, LAGFERRY, will be doubled from fourteen to thirty fleet to solve the Transportation problem, unemployment as well as help people to move from one place to the other in the state.

Governor Sanwo-Olu who stated this at the Commissioning of the Newly Procured Boats and official commercial Launch of the LAGFERRY Operations Mobile app at Badore Ferry Terminal, Ajah, Eti-Osa, Lagos.

The Governor stressed that for Lagos to be a functional smart city that Lagosians desired, there must be diversification of the mode of transportation as well as interconnectivity of the rail, road, and water transportation systems.

He said the launch of the programme was a major key component of the Traffic Management and Transportation pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda adding that Water transportation is one of the intermodal transportation tripods his government was committed to in order reduce congestion on Lagos roads.

Speaking earlier, Commissioner for Transportation, Frederic Oladeinde, said the event was another giant stride in the ongoing reform in the Lagos Transportation Management system and crucial in achieving economic growth in any city as six different routes which included Ikorodu to Falomo, Ebute Ero to Falomo, Badore to Ijede among others would be deployed.

LAGFERRY’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Ladi Balogun, thanked the State government for ensuring adequate security as well as adopting technology to enhance water transportation service delivery saying the fourteen boats among which eight were locally made would be immediately deployed to cover the three Lagos Senatorial districts.
