FG supports Lagos schools with plates, spoons

The Lagos State Universal Basic Education, LASUBEB in collaboration with the National Home Grown School Feeding Program of the Federal Government has distributed plates and spoons to Lagos State Public Primary School Pupils one to three.

At the distribution ceremony held at Maryland, Ikeja, Executive Chairman, Lagos State Universal Basic Education, Wahab Alawiye-King who commended the Federal Government for the initiative noted that the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu had complimented the programme by approving the buying of one hundred and sixty-eight thousand Feeding water bottles for the pupils.

He added that in no distant time, the Governor would formally launch the programme, which would then be replicated in all local government areas in the state.

In his remarks, Senior Special Adviser to the President on Homegrown School Feeding Programme, Dr. Dotun Adebayo stated that the School feeding programme was a global trend which had been adopted in several African countries.

While lauding the Lagos State Government for embracing the school feeding initiative, Dr. Adebayo said the programme encouraged enrolment of pupils in school and had created jobs for women who acted as food vendors.

Lagos State Coordinator of the programme and permanent board member, Lagos State Universal Basic Education, Wahab Adefuye assured that the programme would be well monitored to ensure proper implementation.
