Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency reaffirms commitment to defend consumers’ right.

In a renewed effort towards creating awareness and Protect the right of Lagosians, the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency, LASCOPA, has reiterated commitment to defend consumers’ rights.

Addressing the newsmen after the Stakeholders meeting held in Badagry Local Government Secretariat, the General Manager of LASCOPA, Kemi Olugbode, noted that the sensitization campaign themed “Know Your Rights” which was initiated by the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was aimed at educating consumers in Badagry Division on their rights.

According to Olugbode, the law that enacted the Agency in January 2018, empowered them to prosecute Businesses, Manufacturer’s and Companies that shunned out substandard product’s as well as have offices in every Local Government Area and Local Council Development Areas of the State so as to ensure that the rights of consumers especially at the grassroots are well protected and promoted.

While thanking the participants for their supports, the General Manager, charged them to take advantage of the existence of LASCOPA and lodge any complaint they might have on infringement of their rights as consumers of goods or services.

She urged the Stakeholders to collaborate with the present administration in its bid to make lives easier for them as well as provide an office space for the Agency to strive in their respective local Government and Local Council Development Areas.
