Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat has called for a paradigm shift and a change in the narratives in the behavioral attitude of citizens to sustain the environment.
Hamzat assured that the present administration would not rest on its oars in protecting the environment to make it liveable for all.
Speaking at the eighteenth Chief SL Edu Memorial Lecture organized by the Nigerian Conservative Foundation, NCF, the Deputy Governor said the government would come up with policies to address pressing challenges in the state.
In his opening remark, President of the NCF called for the mobilization of citizens from the grassroots to the apex on the dangers of tree felling, deforestation, bush burning, and others to the ecosystem.
The Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar who was the Guest Lecturer, frowned at the injurious practices of citizens to the environment which should have been controlled by the government through policies.
