Motorists and other road users have been advised to adhere to the “Don’t Drink and Drive” safety slogan, as the festive season approaches.
This was the message of the third year edition of the Lagos Traffic Radio “Don’t Drink and Drive” Campaign, which kicked-off today.
The programme is aimed at enlightening Lagosians, especially drivers, on the dangers associated with drunk-driving.
The state’s Commisoner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, who expressed delight over the initiative, urged motorists to adherence to the advice, which would greatly reduce the number of accidents on Lagos roads.
Omotosho, further advised drivers to be patient while driving, so the efforts of the State government to reduce traffic could yield results, charging motorists to regularly check their vehicles for faults, before putting them on the road.
The General Manager, Lagos Traffic Radio, Tayo Akanle, said the campaign became necessary, to educate people on their journeys during the yuletide period, due to the increased inflow of people and vehicles on Lagos roads during the season.
