Lagos State Government has noted the discomfort commuters and motorists had been experiencing since the beginning of the massive road repairs under ‘Operation one hundred and sixteen’ across the State.
Commissioner, Ministry of Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, stated that there was no deliberate action to cause Lagosians any pain, saying the present situation was temporary.
Omotoso said the contractors were speeding up their jobs and being encouraged to work at night where possible, with motorists being advised to use alternative routes.
He said government sympathised with residents on the inconvenience suffered daily but in fulfillment of its commitment to making the roads motorable immediately the rains subsided, resources and equipment had been deployed to fix degenerated roads.
The Commissioner said government had directed the relevant agencies to review traffic control and regulation policies towards identifying a long-lasting remedy.
