Lagos State government says it is committed to the techonological advancement of the state, hence its encouragement in the study of science subjects in all its schools.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-olu gave this assurance in his message at the World Science Day for Peace and Development, organised today by the Lagos State Ministry of Science and Technology in Alausa, Ikeja.
Governor Sanwo-Olu was represented at the occassion by the state Commissioner for Science and Technology, Hakeem Faham.
He said emphasis of Science subjects in its schools was in line with government’s THEMES agenda, which emphasized the need to equip students with the knowledge and skills for twenty first century.
The World Science Day for Peace and Development was established by UNESCO in Twenty-zero-one and celebrated every year on the tenth of November.
Highlight of the event with the theme: “open science, leaving no one behind”, was the presentation of gifts to the best fifty seven Lagos Young Scientists.
