Lagos State Drivers’ Institute,LASDRI,has advised motorists to desist from road vices such as speed violation, overloading, drunk-driving, use of cell phones, non-use of seatbelt, over-speeding, dangerous driving amongst others to avoid being prosecuted
LASDRI’s Acting General Manager, Afusat Tiamiyu, stated this today at an annual Public Enlightenment Campaign for Allied Trucks Transporters’ Association of Nigeria, at the Tipper Garage, Ojota, Lagos,tagged “ Unlocking Traffic Gridlock Through Drivers Education “.
According to Tiamiyu, the public enlightenment campaign was to further enlightened truck drivers in Lagos against reckless driving to reduce accidents and carnages on Lagos roads during the ember months.
Tiamiyu,who stated that the institute had trained about thirty thousand drivers since January this year, said there was an urgent need to unlock the traffic gridlock in Lagos.
Also, General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Olajide Oduyoye represented by Modupeore Macaulay, advised drivers to take cognisance of other road users, obey the traffic rules and regulations to avoid crashes.
Members of Allied Trucks Transporters’ Association of Nigeria thanked the institute for the gesture, adding that the campaign was a right step in the right direction.
