Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended the Committee of Wives of Lagos State Officials, COWLSO, for their role in making women reach their goals and the initiative to focus the programme on the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda of the present administration.
Governor Sanwo-Olu gave the commendation at the Nineteenth National Women’s Conference Twenty Nineteen themed “Unlearn, Learn And Relearn: 21st Century Women’sT.H.E.M.E.S Perspectives/Approach” .
Governor Sanwo-Olu also commended the founder of COWLSO, the late Obafunmilayo Johnson and Senator Oluremi Tinubu for revitalizing the Conference.
The Governor urged participants to use the conference as an opportunity for reorientation and networking, saying to further promote the Blue box initiative in the state, participants would be given twenty free waste bags for each day.
Speaking earlier, in his goodwill message, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, said Nigeria’s culture must place more value on learning adding that women were critical partners in nation building and development as well as problem solvers.
In her address, wife of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Aisha Buhari, represented by the Wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo, said one of the tenets of the conference was the issue of restoration of values to women, urging participants to be the voice of the voiceless.
Also, Wife of the Governor and Chairman of the Committee, Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has urged women to strategically position themselves to take full benefit of the programmes of the State government.
According to Sanwo-Olu, the National Conference would be an improvement on the previous ones, saying worthwhile topics had been selected and resource persons would discuss how women can contribute to the growth and development in Nigeria.
Sanwo-Olu stated that recently the State Government launched a couple of programmes in line with the T.H.E.M.E.S agenda in strategic sectors including Health, Environment, Agriculture, Education, and investment opportunities for entrepreneurs.
Twenty Nineteen Inspirational Woman Awards were received by Adenike Adeyemi, Sijuade Iluyomade, Elishama Ideh among other programmes.
