The Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria, RTEAN, has called for patience amongst motorists to prevent traffic jam on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway as reconstruction works continue.
According to reports, Julius Berger, a construction company, had on September two announced partial closure of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway to carry out reconstruction of Berger Bus Stop to Kara Cattle Market section of the road.
Vehicles, both inbound and outbound Lagos, used the outbound lane up to Isheri Junction, where it is redistributed to the normal lanes, thereby causing gridlock.
The Lagos State Chairman of RTEAN, Mohammed Musa urged motorists to exercise patience on the highway saying if they were patient and obey traffic rules, nobody would sleep on the road.
Musa however, urged the contractor handling the project to speed up work as the road tended to be more busy during the ember months.
