As the National Youth Games, NYG, officially starts tomorrow, in Ilorin, Kwara State, the Lagos State athletes and officials are in high spirit ready to make the state proud at the games.
Over five thousand athletes from different states of the federation have been screened to compete as the fifth edition of the Games.
A total of two hundred and forty- eight athletes, who have been in camp for a couple of weeks, have resolved to top the medals table having clinched second position at the last year’s edition..
The Director General of Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Bolowotan, said the athletes had been well motivated to record excellent performance at the Games, adding that the athletes were exposed to a thorough training programme in order to win the competition.
Bolowotan, thanked Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for providing necessary facilities and incentives to help Team Lagos to surpass its past records at the Games.
The athletes, will compete in thirty-three sporting events, including Gymnastics, Chess, Cricket, Judo and Wrestling.
