Civil Society Organisations, others, sue Senate over Five point five billion Naira luxury cars.

A group of Civil Society Organisations and over six thousand five hundred Nigerians have urged the Federal High Court in Lagos to stop the Senate from purchasing Five point five billion Naira luxury vehicles for its principal members.

The class action was filed by Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, BudgIT among other groups.

In their suit, the plaintiffs described the move by the Senate to spend Five point five billion Naira on luxury cars as unjust, unfair and unconstitutional.

According to reports, they wanted the court to restrain the National Assembly Service Commission from releasing the money to the Senate until there was a downward review of the budget.
