Members of the group operating under the aegis of Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard at the weekend led scores of Muslim pilgrims from Lagos State to hold special prayers for the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode at Kaabah in Mecca, Saudi Arabia for him to continue in office after the 2019 general elections.
The prayers led by Sheikh Semiu Olojeola, the President of Immas and Alfas Council of Nigeria, saw pilgrims under the platform of the Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard using the opportunity provided by the Lesser Hajj to pray for the continuity in office of Ambode-led administration.
Oloojeoola said the first term of Ambode was characterised by series of laudable projects including improved road infrastructure, schools’ upgrade, improving the healthcare sector, and massive investment in the security apparatus in the State.
He said they decided to utilise the period of Sallah to commit the progress of the State, expressing optimism that with Governor Ambode on the saddle as helmsman, the state is bound to grow in leaps and bounds in the midst of economic challenges across the country.
“There is still a lot of work to be done in the State, but Governor Ambode has started on a very sound footing despite the economic challenges in the country.
‘’While many States are finding it hard to cope with the paucity of funds, but thank God for Ambode, Lagos is one of the very few states which has continued to rise despite the economic outlook. This is the First term and we believe by the grace of Almighty Allah, the plans he has for the next second term will come to pass. With Ambode, Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko is assured.’’
The group currently mobilizing over five million votes for the governor to return back to office also used the occasion to pray for continued peaceful co-existence in the state as well as the overall progress of Nigeria.
The state coordinator of the Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard, Seyi Bamigbade who had on Wednesday in Lagos received various political groups at Mushin, said Lagos will witness more development if Governor Akinwunmi Ambode is re-elected in the 2019 General Election.
‘’We are ready to give the Governor the targeted five Million Votes. He said.
Also speaking, the former Lagos State Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Moshood Salvador, said “I am ready to support the Governor Akinwunmi Ambode second term in office because of the commitment to the smart city development.’’
He said his exit meant that the PDP was dead in Lagos, saying he is moving out of the party with about 15,000 supporters, including party executive members at council and ward levels
Salvador said he would stage a “show of strength” rally on Thursday next week to show his former party that he was going to the APC with thousands of his followers.
He told Bamigbade, “I Am ready to support the Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard five Million Votes with my grassroots supporters.’’
